How to Configure Windows 8 File History to Recover Deleted Files


Windows 8 includes several advanced features inside it that allows an user to recover your data as well as the entire system that is your system backup. It includes File recovery, email recovery, file modification etc. Here in this blog i will show you how to turn on File History, configure it and recover files that are deleted by fault.

Turn on and Configure Windows 8 File History:

 In Windows 8 File History is turned off by default and you will need to enable it. You need to have an internal or external drive connected to your PC Before turning it on.

Configure File History:
After turning on the File History, You will see an option to configure in Advanced Settings.
Here you are able to set to save copies of files. It is set to back up every hour, but you can change the backup time and choose it according to your need.
File History backs up everything in Favorites, Libraries, Contacts and all items on the Desktop.

Recover Files from File History:
If you delete any document or file and you want it back, then this is a useful feature.
Firstly you need to type combination of WinKey + W to open the Settings Search and type file history. After that click on its icon under the results.

Now you can recover the file which you want. The most recent backup of the files will displays. You can also direct it to back in time to earlier dates, it allows you to recover files that were modified on a certain date.

For the recovery of a file make a right click on it and select Restore option or you can hold Ctrl and highlight each file you need and then click on the green restore button.

If you need to recover all the files in a directory you can also do it by clicking on the green restore button without selecting  any files.
So above are the ways to recover deleted files.
