Operating System and Their Types


Operating system also known as OS is a software program that enables the hardware part to operate with the software part of your system. OS of system decides how the software part and hardware part is intract together. Here below types of operating system is describe which will help you to select the OS according to your need.

Types of Operating System:

Real Time Operating System:
This type of operating system is used for real time application like in manufacturing, laboratory compnents, industrial machine etc. This type of operating system is used by operator only so that t has limited user interface. Its main task is to perform the same function at the same time. So, to manage the resources is necessary for this real time OS.

Single and Multiple User Operating System:
It is another type of operating system that allows the single user to use the operating system at a time. Windows OS is the best example of this type of OS. Now multiple user operating system is the type of operating system that allows number of users to operate a computer simultaneously. Unix operating system is an best example of multi user OS.

Single and Multi-Tasking Operating System:
In some industries it is requirement of computers to run only one single program all the time. These type of computers use the single tasking operating system. The operating system use at our home desktop computers also has multi tasking operating system an example of this is windows operating system.

Embedded Operating System:
This type of operating system are used to run the mobile phones, or other small devices. They are made to handle the small amount of hardware and location of memory. Google Android OS is the best example of embedded operating system.
